Princess Bumbie 6th Birthday!

Dear diary,

Its Bumbie's 6 birthday! Almost every year I will try to plan her birthday at Sentosa Tanjong Beach as Bumbie loves the sand. She loves to run everywhere on the sand and feel the wind blowing on her face. We had to celebrate her birthday earlier this month so we planned it 2 weeks before her actual day.

I had a princess theme in mind her for birthday so i wanted to bake a princess birthday cake. Princess = tiara. So i bought a mini tiara to go along with the cake.
The base of the cake is made of approximately 1kg of pork. The icing is made of potato and beetroot for the pink. i spent hours baking the cake and making sure it will be successful. I was so afraid of mistakes as there will not have time for rectifications. So i crossed my fingers all the way.
i had no knowledge on icing and pipping. It was all based on watching Youtube tutorials.

the inside of the cake.

I was so proud of myself! I managed to finish the cake and it was a success! Baked this till the wee hours and knock out. Piew! I almost didn't have enough potato for the decorations so i had to improvise on the design. Not a pro baker, everything is really learnt from YouTube. Haha

The next day, its was party time! All of Bumbie's close buddies came to celebrate her birthday and enjoy the sun. We were really lucky as it was raining the whole morning. We decided to take the risk and just proceed to the beach. Lucky us, the sun was up to celebrate Bumbie's birthday as well!

Thank you Ariel, David, Yukiko, Shi Hui, KK, Yvvin, Bran and Cass for celebrating Bumbie's birthday and all the love and presents. She is so lucky to be loved by all.

bb's super cannot make it sleepy look. She is really sleepy!

Happy birthday my sweet Bumbie. Thank you for trusting me and loving me with all your life. You were my first ever dog and you really taught me a lot of things that changed my life. You treat me as your whole life, and you are definitely mine. Thank you for being a big sister of everyone and especially to Clover. Mummy loves you and may you grow stronger and more beautiful each year.

Adopted a new bunny! Her name is Mabuyi.

Dear Diary,

I have recently adopted another bunny. Yes, another fur baby in the family.

I was scrolling Facebook and came across this bunny that caught my eye. It was love at first sight. But she had a lot of queries from a lot of people. So I was thinking, i wouldn't have the chance. I didn't thought about her until one week later I noticed that she and 3 other female bunnies were still up for adoption. I pm-ed the contact person asking for another female bunny (thinking that the one i liked might be adopted already). End up, she told me that she was still available for adoption!

She was known on social media as Scarlet. There was an arrangement to go down for viewing with other potential adopters on a weekend. Unfortunately I was not able to make it as I had other commitment. Again, I was hopeless and told Bumver daddy that if she is adopted then I will wish her well. If she is not yet adopted, this will be fate. Who knows, the foster lady texted me and told me that she is still up for adoption and there was no successful adopters that day. I was surprised and thrilled and arranged to go down the next day. I brought Kibo boy along to see if they get along. I had so much confident that Kibo will do well.

When we arrived, I see the beautiful bunny, waiting for me! I let Kibo out to interact with her. He is not shy at all! They can get along but Kibo is too friendly for his own good. HAHA.
The session went well and we passed! Scarlet was allowed to come home with me for trail stay! I was so sure she will have a lot of fun at our place. The foster lady told me that she was a rescued bunny and had been through a lot of ups and downs, changing home a few times and the previous owner mishandled her as she lost her bottom 2 front teeth. So monthly vet visit will be the commitment to clip her teeth shorter. Poor baby, the amount of stress that was put through. She must be a very tough bunny.

When i brought her home, i set up her cage area and introduced her 2 sisters, Bumbie and Clover. At first she was unsure and was a little feisty. I tried my best to show her what i can give her and the environment here. To see her grow and adapt into our environment within a week, was one of my biggest achievements. she opened up to me and stopped snapping at me. She even looked forward for me to come home and wake up in the morning to play with her and give her more head rubs.
I knew i will not send her back and I had committed to take care of her and love her for her remaining life. She is still quite young so i believe we will have so much fun together.

I had fun learning more about her each day. Her character is so sweet and gentle. She often get angry at small little things but she will just stomp her feet so hard. She likes to visit Kibo in his cage but again, Kibo is too friendly he is all over her. Every night i will remind her that i will love her and this is her forever home. She can rest assure that this is her home. Wherever we go, we will go together as a family. Her new name is now Mabuyi.

I would like to thank Clarinda for giving me the opportunity for the adoption and Edna for fostering Mabuyi back to health. Thank you to those who were involved in her rescue and those who reached out and contributed to her rescue. Thanks all for trusting her life to me. The rest of her journey, i will take over from here and will give her the best that i can like how i gave to the rest of my furbabies.
She will be a happy bunny because she is now part of our Bumver Family.

In my opinion, adoption is a very noble thing to do. For every adoption is a life saved. There are many lives that are waiting to be saved. But how many can we save? As much as we want to try our best to save all these voiceless animals, most importantly is to stay committed to your responsibilities to them. All these babies have already stories written, fears and wounds inflicted. We need a lot of patience to bring back their confidence. Please do not try to change them but to love them for who they are. As for shopping for furbabies, its not that its not noble, you still mean the whole to your furbabies. For every baby you adopt is not going to stop people from breeding animals for money making purposes (its sad i know). So no matter where you get your babies from, treasure them, nurture them and love them.

Bumver Family:

Eldest: Bumbie the Chihuahua (my little princess)

Second eldest: Clover the Chihuahua (my little Alpha)

Third eldest (newest member): Mabuyi the Lion Loop (my little mini boss)

Fourth Eldest: Hugo the Guinea Pig (my noisy pig)

Youngest: Kibo the Netherlands drawf (my super duper naughty boy)

As hamsters have the shortest life of just 3 years, i have no idea how to rank them. Technically in percentage, they are the oldest but both are about a year old plus.

Zorro the Syrian Hamster (my fat boy)

Gomu the Roborovski Hamster (my scary cat)

My experience with Animal Communicator

Dear Diary,

I had a new eye opening experience. This experience is not meant for everyone. But I am gonna share my experience anyway.

I was like anyone else, skeptical about this animal comcommunicator service. But I cant help but to feel curious of this ability. I was telling myself, if this is true, I wanna tell and ask my girls many many things. I believe many fur-parents are like me, having this thought at the back of our minds. We have many things to ask them, but we dont know how. Hiring a pet communicator sounds skeptical and the session is not cheap to just "try it out".

I was already exploring this option of hiring a pet communicator and was looking around. Then I chance upon Ezekiel from The Pet Communicator Singapore on facebook. The reviews were good and seems like everyone who hired him, were very satisfied with the service. Skeptical, but I did research about animal psychic and got more interested.

Those who knows me will know that my bumbie is the most calm and the most non barkish chihuahua. At most situations, clover will be the one barking. But bumbie has been barking non stop ever since my neighbor move it. (My neighbor moved in a day before the 7th month, hungry ghost festival). My neighbor's dog has been also barking non stop for the whole day. I know as I have been observing the girls from my home camera. My neighbor's dog is very pitchy so I can hear loud and clear from the camera. I was getting anxious and decided, fine, I will just give the pet communicator a try.

Desperate and helpless, I patiently waited for my session to begin. It was on a Saturday night. Ezekiel, the pet communicator, do not need to meet the dogs personally. He can use their personal item to connect with them. In every case, their photos are the closest thing. So I provided Ezekiel just Bumbie and Clover's photos each and my questions for the girls. No other information were provided if you guys were wondering.

Ezekiel was able to tell me every thing that is about clover and mostly information only I would know as a fur parent. I was surprised and stunned. Even how clover responded to my questions were fascinating. He could even tell me which was bumbie's injured leg.
So I asked about bumbie barking part. Why is bb barking non stop. He told me bb can see those things that we couldn't. Then I asked, then how come clover cannot see. He said, clover is an Alpha female, her energy is stronger so she wouldn't see all these. Fair enough. He said bb mentioned she can see many and particularly one loitering and she felt disturbed (Outside my house).
At that point, bb was very persistant to sit at the door. Ezekiel advised me to tell her, "its ok, I understand what you can see. Don't worry, you are safe." After I told her what he advised me to tell her, bb immediately slept soundly on the sofa.

Ezekiel advised me to buy stones to try to put at my door. He listed a few but black obsidian captured my attention more. I didnt manage to find the stone the next day. On monday, when I was at work, bumbie's bark escalated to a howl. She was howling almost the whole day. I was closely observing her from my camera.
Lucky I managed to find and bought the black obsidian stone. I bought one for bb to wear on her neck. The results was remarkable. Bb instantly got better and she was no longer barking and howling. Her routine was back to normal!

I was really very shock to see all these happening. I was really glad that I found Ezekiel to help. For those who do not believe in all these, please do not criticize. This is just my 2cents blog entry. You may keep your comments and thoughts to yourself. And those who believe, thank you for believing.

Before using the Black obsidian. (Just put it on her only)

A day after wearing the black obsidian. Bb has returned to her usual self.

Even for daddy bumver, he totally didnt believe everything from head to toe. He saw this results, he now believe.

About Black Obsidian, its a stone that will repel all negativity or evil stuffs. For now, bb is wearing one that I diy into a necklace for her.

This experience gave me a good reminder. Trust your heart. Dont border about what others think or feel about your actions. As long as you think its right, go ahead and try no matter how skeptical it may sounds. Cause at the end of the day, it will be a good experience gained, no matter how good or bad it turns out to be. You never try, you never know.

Clover's big fat 4th birthday!

Dear Diary,

Its the time of the year for Clover's birthday! She is 4 years old this year. To many people, Clover is still in her tender age. But to me, she is growing up too fast! With all our busy renovation and stuffs, I had difficulties in planning a big party for her. So we did a mini party with a big cake.

I spent good 7 hours unknowingly baking this cake. Im not a professional baker, just wanted it to be successful.

Unicorn!!

I managed to do it and I consider this as a successful attempt. *yay!*
The base of the cake is pork with carrots and broccoli. I added more carrots so its like a carrot cake since the top is coated with cream cheese.

Our tradition is that, at the stroke of midnight, we have to blow the candle and eat cake. So Clover get to blow a mini unicorn pup cake!

We got a mini blow cake party with Kashew the Pomeranian. Kashew is their childhood buddy, he is like their baby brother. Haha.
The cake looks so yummy in the inside... yummmms.

Even though we had a small birthday for clover, clover still received many presents! She is so loved!

Thank you Ariel, David, Shi hui, Kk and Yvvin for pampering her! Haha.

As years goes by, as we grow older, we tend to appreciate everything around us. We start to miss those days where we dont have so many things to worry about. Same as clover, as she grows older, she became more sensible. Still as arrogant, but I believe at a certain extend is for her own good. People who knows her will know she blossomed into a very sweet little girl and learn how to love people who are important. There are still many things for her to learn but I will never force her to be someone who she dont wanna be. Its always her choice. She is still quite uncertain about many things but in time I believe she will understand.
She wanna be arrogant, she be arrogant. She wanna be alpha, she be alpha. She wants her own pack, she gets her own pack. Who m I to stop her for being who she wanna be. Ultimately, I will always love her for who she is.

Her name is Clover, and she is the legendary queen alpha chihuahua.

Happy birthday Clover Ro!

Another milestone, moving house!

Dear Diary,

We have been busy! Weeks of packing and contacting vendors and arranging appointments was tiring! But so far, everything has been quite smooth for us. Well, there were a few hiccups along the way but we managed to get pass it. Bb and clover were so tired from seeing us running around. From packing and boxing, to unpacking and un-boxing. It has been 2 weeks since they both had a good run in the park!

Here is a picture of all the fur babies in the process of moving!
i had to put Hugo (guinea pig) and Kibo(rabbit) in their carriers so that they can fit in the car. It was a handful to move all the fur babies all in one go. Lucky we had a friend to help us transport the other cage accessories over.

The Mover

We engaged No.1 Transportation Services. This vendor was recommended by one of our friends. I can guarantee he is the best mover in town!
The boss is from Hong Kong, moved to Singapore for many years. He and his workers were very professional and very careful with each and every of our item. I had much more extra items to move compared to what I had communicated with him before that, he was so patient and willing to just load them up. It only took them about 20 mins to clear my house. Lastly, he will ask us to check if they or we had missed out anything to move, then we move off to our new house.
Upon arriving at our new home, they placed all our stuffs neatly and carefully at my allocated spots. Their charges are also very reasonable. Super happy that I managed to engage such good mover as I heard many bad stories of movers and not many good movers are easy to engage.
I'm blessed!

Curtains

We engaged Kingsley Window Furnishing SG. I was so glad that I found them. I started to look for vendors to install curtains just 1 week before moving in. There are many good curtain vendors around, just that most that I asked needs 3 weeks processing and installation time. We cannot afford to wait for 3 weeks as we were planning to move in already. House without curtains feels so weird. I didnt want to move in without the curtains. I chanced upon Kingsley Window Furnishing SG on facebook and decided to pm them to check it out since they have all 5 stars review. They were very efficient and responsive. Within 2 days, we made an appointment at our new house to take measurements. Within a week, they got my curtains and blinds installed for the whole house, just in time for us to move in! I was extremely surprised and it crossed my expectations. Very excellent job done and very friendly people. Price is also reasonable.

Master bedroom curtains (Silver)

Living hall curtains (Gold)

2 other common rooms (Roller Blinds)

Dining Table

My biggest and happiest purchase for the house was my dining table. Compliments from my Godma for the table. hahaha. We were looking for a little Victorian concept dining table as we have chandeliers in some places of the house and we were planning for a modern Victorian look for the house.
There isn't much places in Singapore that sells Victorian furniture. Even if they do sell, they cost a bomb. I chanced upon this vendor Victorian Flair Pte Ltd.  located in Toa Payoh. They sell a wide range of Victorian furniture. I have to admit that Victorian furniture are not wallet friendly in the first place so please don't expect too much and have a price scare. This vendor already consider quite wallet friendly already. They do not mass produce their products therefore each design only have 1 unique piece in stock. If the item that we want is sold, we can customize and pre-order again. We managed to find the dining table that we like and just bought it individually. Didnt but a dining set as their benches and dining chairs were really out of our budget. It will really cost a bomb. After all i believe we are able to find matching chairs from other vendors. This dining table itself cost about SGD 1,700. Which I think the price is already quite reasonable for this concept and material. The wood is made from Mahogany wood, top layer with tempered glass.
The chairs are basically from IKEA. haha. We have yet to get a bench to match the table.

Everything else was being covered by my renovation contractor. Including my ceiling fans, water heater tank, stove, cooker hood, air conditioning, window grills, build in wardrobe, toilet accessories, etc. For the lighting, we went to Balestier for lighting shopping. Some people may choose to go Malaysia to get their house electrical stuffs as it will be cheaper. But I purchase everything locally as I believe in warranty. Haha! and also Singapore products have the safety mark. Haha.

Once I took a taxi and the taxi uncle said he was previously an electrician. He told me honestly that we should buy electrical appliances from Singapore as there is a Safety mark. He said that wasn't just a sticker. The did some safety wiring to the pluck that prevents overheat or something when fused. He said there is definitely a difference. Not sure what he said was true but I needed the warranty anyway.

My renovation contractor was my mum's ex boss and also my mum's best friend when she was still around. I wouldn't mention his renovation company here as I would like to keep some privacy. He was really a good friend to my mum and I m really very grateful to have him as he helped majority of our house. He promised and he delivered. We didn't have any interior designer's help, the house was designed by us.

Overall, the moving process is tiring and we are still not near done. Still have about 10 more boxes to unpack and pack up the old house.
It was a pleasant journey and this will be our new chapter. We learn mistakes on the way, we pick ourselves up and move on. Even though my mum passed away 3 years also, but I always feel that she is with me, watching over me all the time. I was blessed with all the wonderful vendors that made this a smooth journey.

PS: thank you godma for the fridge and dining table set!

Welcome Kibo!

Dear Diary,

About a month back, I adopted another bunny. I was scrolling Facebook and I came across someone looking to rehome their bunny as they will be migrating. It has been a while since Ouji passed away.

Ouji was only 4 months old when he passed away suddenly. We have no idea why. The only strange thing happened was when he stopped eating and pooping. We wanted to bring him to the vet but it was all too late. One moment he was breathing, the next moment when we were about to leave the house to bring him to the vet, he stopped breathing. We suspected maybe it was a bunny most deadly illness, GI Statics. Something to do with the gut slowing down. His passing didn't come easy, we grived. Please do not judge us for all our actions as we really did our best but there wasnt enough time. I didnt want to blog about it as it was too painful to believe.

So when I saw a bunny was up for adoption, I believe we are ready again to care for one. This time I will be extra extra careful, I told myself. We went down to bring him home and decided to name him Kibo. It means hope. Hope for Ouji.

We brought him to the vet for a full body check up to be sure. He was perfect. Just need to put on a little more weight.

The first few weeks were tough. He bit me, and ran away from me. Stomping his feet so often. I will let him free roam with the girls everyday for at least 2 hours but he will just hid under the sofa. With all the patience and perseverance, noe he learnt to trust me. No more biting, no more stomping. Now he is always following me around at home!

Im so proud of his progression. Having a bunny is also needs high level of responsibility. Many people classify them as small animals and therefore assume not much attention is required and just commit to one. When they realise the heavy commitments, they give it up or neglect.

Bunnies need more attention than dogs actually. I personally feel so. They crave for attention, they love, they feel, they even have a favorite food. They will fall sick, they will show their feelings, they will also need affection. No matter how big or small the animal is, they are all gifted with feelings and the ability to love, just like anyone of us. :)

Mummy bumver
