Another milestone, moving house!

Dear Diary,

We have been busy! Weeks of packing and contacting vendors and arranging appointments was tiring! But so far, everything has been quite smooth for us. Well, there were a few hiccups along the way but we managed to get pass it. Bb and clover were so tired from seeing us running around. From packing and boxing, to unpacking and un-boxing. It has been 2 weeks since they both had a good run in the park!

Here is a picture of all the fur babies in the process of moving!
i had to put Hugo (guinea pig) and Kibo(rabbit) in their carriers so that they can fit in the car. It was a handful to move all the fur babies all in one go. Lucky we had a friend to help us transport the other cage accessories over.

The Mover

We engaged No.1 Transportation Services. This vendor was recommended by one of our friends. I can guarantee he is the best mover in town!
The boss is from Hong Kong, moved to Singapore for many years. He and his workers were very professional and very careful with each and every of our item. I had much more extra items to move compared to what I had communicated with him before that, he was so patient and willing to just load them up. It only took them about 20 mins to clear my house. Lastly, he will ask us to check if they or we had missed out anything to move, then we move off to our new house.
Upon arriving at our new home, they placed all our stuffs neatly and carefully at my allocated spots. Their charges are also very reasonable. Super happy that I managed to engage such good mover as I heard many bad stories of movers and not many good movers are easy to engage.
I'm blessed!

Curtains

We engaged Kingsley Window Furnishing SG. I was so glad that I found them. I started to look for vendors to install curtains just 1 week before moving in. There are many good curtain vendors around, just that most that I asked needs 3 weeks processing and installation time. We cannot afford to wait for 3 weeks as we were planning to move in already. House without curtains feels so weird. I didnt want to move in without the curtains. I chanced upon Kingsley Window Furnishing SG on facebook and decided to pm them to check it out since they have all 5 stars review. They were very efficient and responsive. Within 2 days, we made an appointment at our new house to take measurements. Within a week, they got my curtains and blinds installed for the whole house, just in time for us to move in! I was extremely surprised and it crossed my expectations. Very excellent job done and very friendly people. Price is also reasonable.

Master bedroom curtains (Silver)

Living hall curtains (Gold)

2 other common rooms (Roller Blinds)

Dining Table

My biggest and happiest purchase for the house was my dining table. Compliments from my Godma for the table. hahaha. We were looking for a little Victorian concept dining table as we have chandeliers in some places of the house and we were planning for a modern Victorian look for the house.
There isn't much places in Singapore that sells Victorian furniture. Even if they do sell, they cost a bomb. I chanced upon this vendor Victorian Flair Pte Ltd.  located in Toa Payoh. They sell a wide range of Victorian furniture. I have to admit that Victorian furniture are not wallet friendly in the first place so please don't expect too much and have a price scare. This vendor already consider quite wallet friendly already. They do not mass produce their products therefore each design only have 1 unique piece in stock. If the item that we want is sold, we can customize and pre-order again. We managed to find the dining table that we like and just bought it individually. Didnt but a dining set as their benches and dining chairs were really out of our budget. It will really cost a bomb. After all i believe we are able to find matching chairs from other vendors. This dining table itself cost about SGD 1,700. Which I think the price is already quite reasonable for this concept and material. The wood is made from Mahogany wood, top layer with tempered glass.
The chairs are basically from IKEA. haha. We have yet to get a bench to match the table.

Everything else was being covered by my renovation contractor. Including my ceiling fans, water heater tank, stove, cooker hood, air conditioning, window grills, build in wardrobe, toilet accessories, etc. For the lighting, we went to Balestier for lighting shopping. Some people may choose to go Malaysia to get their house electrical stuffs as it will be cheaper. But I purchase everything locally as I believe in warranty. Haha! and also Singapore products have the safety mark. Haha.

Once I took a taxi and the taxi uncle said he was previously an electrician. He told me honestly that we should buy electrical appliances from Singapore as there is a Safety mark. He said that wasn't just a sticker. The did some safety wiring to the pluck that prevents overheat or something when fused. He said there is definitely a difference. Not sure what he said was true but I needed the warranty anyway.

My renovation contractor was my mum's ex boss and also my mum's best friend when she was still around. I wouldn't mention his renovation company here as I would like to keep some privacy. He was really a good friend to my mum and I m really very grateful to have him as he helped majority of our house. He promised and he delivered. We didn't have any interior designer's help, the house was designed by us.

Overall, the moving process is tiring and we are still not near done. Still have about 10 more boxes to unpack and pack up the old house.
It was a pleasant journey and this will be our new chapter. We learn mistakes on the way, we pick ourselves up and move on. Even though my mum passed away 3 years also, but I always feel that she is with me, watching over me all the time. I was blessed with all the wonderful vendors that made this a smooth journey.

PS: thank you godma for the fridge and dining table set!

Love,
Mummy bumver
