Pistol, Our new member

Dear Diary,

On the 30 August, Pistol was adopted. He was an abundant chinchilla that was being rescued by his foster parent. Along with 3 other chinchillas that was being abundant together by the ex owner.
We always wanted a chinchilla but we have yet to find the opportunity to have one. We were trying to find the perfect chinchilla to fit into our family.
When i was scrolling Facebook, i chanced upon Pistol and fell in love with him. His main features that attracted me was his big eyes and huge ears. I decided to contact the foster lady to have more information on him. Unfortunately, he was still not ready to come home yet as the nice foster lady was nursing him back to health. I took this opportunity to learn more about chinchillas and got myself ready. I had to search for the perfect cage, with the perfect routine for him. As his nature is so different from the rest (the rabbits and guinea pig), i had to find the perfect routine that fits all. The challenging part is planning how to keep the area cool enough for him as chinchillas have thick coat.

Once everything has been sorted out, i started to shop for the cage, toys and equipment. This cage has to be much bigger than the rest as he needs space to jump here and there. Toys that are chinchilla safe as they love to chew everything they can get. Once the cage and accessories arrived, it was just in time to welcome Pistol home!

No any particular reason why i name him pistol. Just that his colour just reminds me so much about gun metal. haha.

He is currently 4 years old and had a different life before me. Now, we will help him write a new chapter of his life. It can be challenging for both of us as we need time to know each other. So far, trails i learnt about him are: stubborn, smart, observant, and a fussy eater.
t took him a while to start eating his hay and food. i had to bribe him with treats and sometimes treats doesn't even work as he was so persistent in being stubborn. HAHAHA.

I have yet to let him mingle with bb and clover as i need him to gain his confidence first. He is still quite wary if the environment but slowly trying to explore.
Chinchillas have very long life span. Up to 20 years. We are gonna have a long time together buddy! I guess you will have a chance to see our family grow and grow old with us.

Small animals have high responsibility level too. Some people ignore the fact that small animals do not need these attention. Small animals cannot express much feelings on their faces but no doubt their hearts are the same as ours. Their heart bleeds, their heart beats. They do feel pain, and they do feel agony and sorrows if we ignore them or abundant them.

Stay tune for more pistol's progression with us in months to come!

Clover's Birthday!

Dear Diary,

Its the time of the year again for Clover's birthday! This year she is turning 5 years old! I decided to bake her a big cake for her Birthday party. I love baking cakes for my girls especially when there is an occasion. I searched around for inspirations and came out with this idea. Presenting you, the cake:

I did a little mix in colours and hand piped roses. All made with potatoes and colours were made from vegetables. The cake has at least 1.5kg worth of pork. I took about 7 hours to bake this cake. It was hard work, but worth it.

We celebrated her birthday at Tanjong beach. Clover was really fortunate to have so many people to celebrate her birthday with her. She is so loved!

For tradition purposes, at the stroke of midnight, we will blow the candle and eat the cupcake!

Thank you our dear friends for loving Clover. Everyone had seen her at her worst and yet still love her endlessly. Clover is so blessed.

Happy birthday dear clover! May you grow up to be a more cheerful girl. You are always so brave and always protecting all of us. You are my little queen, my little alpha and my little protector. I love you so much!

With love,

Mummy Bumver

My Little Clover

Dear Diary,

Was looking through at some of Clover’s puppy photos and decided to do a little story on our Clover. She really came from a long way. Those who watched her grow, witnessed her blossomed into a beautiful girl.

Her History:
She was a refunded puppy. When we saw her at the farm, she was recovering from a skin allergy (claimed the farm assistant which doesn’t seem like an allergy to me). They said that the ex-buyer couldn’t handle her and decided to refund her back to the farm. When she was refunded, one patch of fur on her back was already bald. The patch was as big as a size of my fist (that’s a very big patch for a Chihuahua). We didn’t know what exactly happened to her because 2 different assistants told us both different stories. All I know she was really scared she was shivering very badly when the assistant held her. We had a connection immediately when I held her. Her shivers stopped immediately and she started licking me and rubbing herself all over me. Then, we decided to bring her home. Maybe to Clover, we had saved her life. But she had already saved our lives.
After my mum had passed away, all of us were very depressed. The house felt empty and Bumbie was so low in spirit. She wouldn’t move, wouldn’t eat. She would just lay one corner of the house whole day and sleep. After Clover came into our lives, she lifted all of our spirits and everyone was busy again.

Puppyhood:
Training for her is really very tough. But I didn’t give up, I couldn’t and I wouldn’t. She was really a little monster (we guessed maybe that is why the ex-buyer/owner couldn’t handle her but that was not an excuse). When we put a barrier up, she would ram into the barrier and knock it down as if she was a little bull. She would push my laundry basket down and scatter all my clothes all over my house. She was so hyper that she couldn’t stop running and hopping. She had food aggression and all other aggressive behaviour. She wouldn’t hesitate to bite us. I had my hand full or bite wounds and scars. Even when teaching her basic commands, she couldn’t stay still to learn. While learning the command “Sit” her butt would move from left to right while sitting. HAHA.
Her biggest fear was leaving the house. That was not normal for a puppy. Whenever I open the gate, she would run back into her crate and hide. If she had the ability to lock herself in there, I think she would. She would shiver so badly again when we are about to bring her out. When we brought her to meet our friends, she will turn aggressive and bite them. I guess she was really afraid that people may take her away from the happiness that she just have. I took one month, every day, rain or shine and brought her out. I trained her to walk on leash and off leash. Slowly, she learnt to be excited when we head out for events. She learnt a lot of values from Bumbie and she will always follow closely behind Bumbie during walks. Friends who loved her, didn’t give up on her and slowly, they managed to gain her trust day by day. Clover now is so affectionate and she had learnt what love is and how love feels like. She had learnt how to love and show love.

Adulthood:
Life has been very nice to her and she had really blossomed into a very beautiful girl. Many people looked down on her looks when she was a puppy as she had a default angry face. Many compared to Bumbie as Bumbie has a default smiley happy face. I wanted to prove it to everyone, what love can do and how great love is.

Anyone can buy a puppy from a pet store, anyone can adopt a dog from the shelter. No matter where we adopt them from, its very important that new owners must have RESPONSIBILITY. Only adopt or get a pet when you are ready. Listen to owners talk about responsibility and how much does it cost to keep a pet, or do research on google to learn more about the pet u are considering to buy/adopt. Because that pet will turn into family.

Top 6 photos are clover's puppy photos. look at her face, always frowning.

My New journey to be a Groomer

Dear Diary,

I have been busy lately. Ever since after the new year i have been doing many things to move forward to my dreams. Met with a few hiccups along the way and now trying to get back on track.

I always wanted to have my own Pet Grooming shop. That's why I pursue for a Pet Grooming certificate. I have successfully completed and obtained my certificate and now officially certified to be a groomer! Its still not the end as there are 2 more Certificates to obtain to be certified the best. Along the way, I made some plans. Unfortunately, was unsuccessful and I am still trying my best to achieve my dream.

I recently just started my freelance grooming, tagged to a shop. Not too bad, but i really need much more experiences than this. HAHA. Lucky the boss of the shop is very understanding and he gave me room for mistakes and improvement. I learnt many new things in this industry. This is a very big change for me as previously I was working in an office environment. I wouldn't say its easy just because I have passion for it. The learning process is quite tedious and i do find it very tiring compared to an office environment. In the pet industry, i am more fearful of making mistakes therefore I m very careful of what i am doing. Especially now that i hold on to expensive and sharp scissors whole day. HAHA!

Working with animals, mostly dogs, really makes me a happier person. But every job still has it's stress level. So far, i have not much issue for handling dogs. Some even dozed off while i was trimming. The most challenging part is cutting nails. Most dogs are afraid and tend to be aggressive. Got bitten a few times but all is well.

For now, I am planning to do freelance, home grooming. I will start home grooming (going to client's house) once i am more confident in my styles. I am also currently pursuing to upgrade my certificate and take it to the next level, B class cert. So that i can do better grooming for my clients in the future.
So if anyone is interested for me to groom their dogs, please PM me and i will plan a date. But please be understanding as I am a NEW groomer!

Don't be afraid to pursue what you want to do in life. Today is the day I wake up to follow my dreams.

Princess Bumbie 6th Birthday!

Dear diary,

Its Bumbie's 6 birthday! Almost every year I will try to plan her birthday at Sentosa Tanjong Beach as Bumbie loves the sand. She loves to run everywhere on the sand and feel the wind blowing on her face. We had to celebrate her birthday earlier this month so we planned it 2 weeks before her actual day.

I had a princess theme in mind her for birthday so i wanted to bake a princess birthday cake. Princess = tiara. So i bought a mini tiara to go along with the cake.
The base of the cake is made of approximately 1kg of pork. The icing is made of potato and beetroot for the pink. i spent hours baking the cake and making sure it will be successful. I was so afraid of mistakes as there will not have time for rectifications. So i crossed my fingers all the way.
i had no knowledge on icing and pipping. It was all based on watching Youtube tutorials.

the inside of the cake.

I was so proud of myself! I managed to finish the cake and it was a success! Baked this till the wee hours and knock out. Piew! I almost didn't have enough potato for the decorations so i had to improvise on the design. Not a pro baker, everything is really learnt from YouTube. Haha

The next day, its was party time! All of Bumbie's close buddies came to celebrate her birthday and enjoy the sun. We were really lucky as it was raining the whole morning. We decided to take the risk and just proceed to the beach. Lucky us, the sun was up to celebrate Bumbie's birthday as well!

bb's super cannot make it sleepy look. She is really sleepy!

Happy birthday my sweet Bumbie. Thank you for trusting me and loving me with all your life. You were my first ever dog and you really taught me a lot of things that changed my life. You treat me as your whole life, and you are definitely mine. Thank you for being a big sister of everyone and especially to Clover. Mummy loves you and may you grow stronger and more beautiful each year.

Adopted a new bunny! Her name is Mabuyi.

Dear Diary,

I have recently adopted another bunny. Yes, another fur baby in the family.

I was scrolling Facebook and came across this bunny that caught my eye. It was love at first sight. But she had a lot of queries from a lot of people. So I was thinking, i wouldn't have the chance. I didn't thought about her until one week later I noticed that she and 3 other female bunnies were still up for adoption. I pm-ed the contact person asking for another female bunny (thinking that the one i liked might be adopted already). End up, she told me that she was still available for adoption!

She was known on social media as Scarlet. There was an arrangement to go down for viewing with other potential adopters on a weekend. Unfortunately I was not able to make it as I had other commitment. Again, I was hopeless and told Bumver daddy that if she is adopted then I will wish her well. If she is not yet adopted, this will be fate. Who knows, the foster lady texted me and told me that she is still up for adoption and there was no successful adopters that day. I was surprised and thrilled and arranged to go down the next day. I brought Kibo boy along to see if they get along. I had so much confident that Kibo will do well.

When we arrived, I see the beautiful bunny, waiting for me! I let Kibo out to interact with her. He is not shy at all! They can get along but Kibo is too friendly for his own good. HAHA.
The session went well and we passed! Scarlet was allowed to come home with me for trail stay! I was so sure she will have a lot of fun at our place. The foster lady told me that she was a rescued bunny and had been through a lot of ups and downs, changing home a few times and the previous owner mishandled her as she lost her bottom 2 front teeth. So monthly vet visit will be the commitment to clip her teeth shorter. Poor baby, the amount of stress that was put through. She must be a very tough bunny.

When i brought her home, i set up her cage area and introduced her 2 sisters, Bumbie and Clover. At first she was unsure and was a little feisty. I tried my best to show her what i can give her and the environment here. To see her grow and adapt into our environment within a week, was one of my biggest achievements. she opened up to me and stopped snapping at me. She even looked forward for me to come home and wake up in the morning to play with her and give her more head rubs.
I knew i will not send her back and I had committed to take care of her and love her for her remaining life. She is still quite young so i believe we will have so much fun together.

I had fun learning more about her each day. Her character is so sweet and gentle. She often get angry at small little things but she will just stomp her feet so hard. She likes to visit Kibo in his cage but again, Kibo is too friendly he is all over her. Every night i will remind her that i will love her and this is her forever home. She can rest assure that this is her home. Wherever we go, we will go together as a family. Her new name is now Mabuyi.

I would like to thank Clarinda for giving me the opportunity for the adoption and Edna for fostering Mabuyi back to health. Thank you to those who were involved in her rescue and those who reached out and contributed to her rescue. Thanks all for trusting her life to me. The rest of her journey, i will take over from here and will give her the best that i can like how i gave to the rest of my furbabies.
She will be a happy bunny because she is now part of our Bumver Family.

In my opinion, adoption is a very noble thing to do. For every adoption is a life saved. There are many lives that are waiting to be saved. But how many can we save? As much as we want to try our best to save all these voiceless animals, most importantly is to stay committed to your responsibilities to them. All these babies have already stories written, fears and wounds inflicted. We need a lot of patience to bring back their confidence. Please do not try to change them but to love them for who they are. As for shopping for furbabies, its not that its not noble, you still mean the whole to your furbabies. For every baby you adopt is not going to stop people from breeding animals for money making purposes (its sad i know). So no matter where you get your babies from, treasure them, nurture them and love them.

Bumver Family:

Eldest: Bumbie the Chihuahua (my little princess)

Second eldest: Clover the Chihuahua (my little Alpha)

Third eldest (newest member): Mabuyi the Lion Loop (my little mini boss)

Fourth Eldest: Hugo the Guinea Pig (my noisy pig)

Youngest: Kibo the Netherlands drawf (my super duper naughty boy)

As hamsters have the shortest life of just 3 years, i have no idea how to rank them. Technically in percentage, they are the oldest but both are about a year old plus.

Zorro the Syrian Hamster (my fat boy)

Gomu the Roborovski Hamster (my scary cat)

My experience with Animal Communicator

Dear Diary,

I had a new eye opening experience. This experience is not meant for everyone. But I am gonna share my experience anyway.

I was like anyone else, skeptical about this animal comcommunicator service. But I cant help but to feel curious of this ability. I was telling myself, if this is true, I wanna tell and ask my girls many many things. I believe many fur-parents are like me, having this thought at the back of our minds. We have many things to ask them, but we dont know how. Hiring a pet communicator sounds skeptical and the session is not cheap to just "try it out".

I was already exploring this option of hiring a pet communicator and was looking around. Then I chance upon Ezekiel from The Pet Communicator Singapore on facebook. The reviews were good and seems like everyone who hired him, were very satisfied with the service. Skeptical, but I did research about animal psychic and got more interested.

Those who knows me will know that my bumbie is the most calm and the most non barkish chihuahua. At most situations, clover will be the one barking. But bumbie has been barking non stop ever since my neighbor move it. (My neighbor moved in a day before the 7th month, hungry ghost festival). My neighbor's dog has been also barking non stop for the whole day. I know as I have been observing the girls from my home camera. My neighbor's dog is very pitchy so I can hear loud and clear from the camera. I was getting anxious and decided, fine, I will just give the pet communicator a try.

Desperate and helpless, I patiently waited for my session to begin. It was on a Saturday night. Ezekiel, the pet communicator, do not need to meet the dogs personally. He can use their personal item to connect with them. In every case, their photos are the closest thing. So I provided Ezekiel just Bumbie and Clover's photos each and my questions for the girls. No other information were provided if you guys were wondering.

Ezekiel was able to tell me every thing that is about clover and mostly information only I would know as a fur parent. I was surprised and stunned. Even how clover responded to my questions were fascinating. He could even tell me which was bumbie's injured leg.
So I asked about bumbie barking part. Why is bb barking non stop. He told me bb can see those things that we couldn't. Then I asked, then how come clover cannot see. He said, clover is an Alpha female, her energy is stronger so she wouldn't see all these. Fair enough. He said bb mentioned she can see many and particularly one loitering and she felt disturbed (Outside my house).
At that point, bb was very persistant to sit at the door. Ezekiel advised me to tell her, "its ok, I understand what you can see. Don't worry, you are safe." After I told her what he advised me to tell her, bb immediately slept soundly on the sofa.

Ezekiel advised me to buy stones to try to put at my door. He listed a few but black obsidian captured my attention more. I didnt manage to find the stone the next day. On monday, when I was at work, bumbie's bark escalated to a howl. She was howling almost the whole day. I was closely observing her from my camera.
Lucky I managed to find and bought the black obsidian stone. I bought one for bb to wear on her neck. The results was remarkable. Bb instantly got better and she was no longer barking and howling. Her routine was back to normal!

I was really very shock to see all these happening. I was really glad that I found Ezekiel to help. For those who do not believe in all these, please do not criticize. This is just my 2cents blog entry. You may keep your comments and thoughts to yourself. And those who believe, thank you for believing.

Before using the Black obsidian. (Just put it on her only)

A day after wearing the black obsidian. Bb has returned to her usual self.

Even for daddy bumver, he totally didnt believe everything from head to toe. He saw this results, he now believe.

About Black Obsidian, its a stone that will repel all negativity or evil stuffs. For now, bb is wearing one that I diy into a necklace for her.

This experience gave me a good reminder. Trust your heart. Dont border about what others think or feel about your actions. As long as you think its right, go ahead and try no matter how skeptical it may sounds. Cause at the end of the day, it will be a good experience gained, no matter how good or bad it turns out to be. You never try, you never know.

Love,
Mummy bumver
